Bible Promises to Christians
—A simple list for Assurance and Hope

Promises that Give Christians Assurance and Hope.

Peace and Protection

JESUS: "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also" (John 14:1-3 NKJV).

JESUS: "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls" (Matthew 11:28-29 NKJV).

PAUL: "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6-7 BSB).

DAVID: "The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me..." (Psalm 23:1-4 KJV).

HEBREWS: "The LORD has said, 'I will never leave you nor forsake you.' 6 So we can confidently say, 'The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?'" (Hebrews 13:5-6 NIV, Joshua 1:5-6).

Forgiveness of Sins

JOHN: "If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1John 1:8-9 BSB).

PAUL: "There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2 For in Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set you free from the law of sin and death" (Romans 8:1-2 NKJV).

PAUL: "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, 4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, 5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, 6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved" (Ephesians 1:3-6 NKJV).

PAUL: "In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace 8 which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence, 9 having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, 10 that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ..." (Ephesians 1:7-10 NKJV).

Resurrection from the Dead

JESUS: "...The hour is coming when all who are in their graves will hear His voice 29 and come out —those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment" (John 5:28-29 BSB).

PAUL: "Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed —52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality" (1Corinthians 15:51-53 NKJV).

ANGEL: "At that time your people shall be delivered, every one who is found written in the book. 2 And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, some to shame and everlasting contempt. 3 Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever" (Daniel 12:1-3 NKJV).

Heirs of Eternal Life

JESUS: "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life" (John 3:16 NKJV).

PAUL: "The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. 17 And if we are children, then we are heirs: heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ —if indeed we suffer with Him, so that we may also be glorified with Him" (Romans 8:16-17 BSB).

PAUL: "For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise" (Galatians 3:26-29 NKJV).

PETER: "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, reserved in heaven for you, 5 who through faith are shielded by God’s power for the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time" (1Peter 1:3-5) NKJV).

A Glorious Joy

PETER: "...The genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, 8 whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, 9 receiving the end of your faith —the salvation of your souls" (1Peter 1:7-9 NKJV).

JESUS: "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. 12 Rejoice and be [exceeding] glad, because great is your reward in heaven; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets before you" (Matthew 5:11-12 BSB).

JOHN: "And I heard a great voice from heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people; and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there shall no longer be any dying, or mourning, or crying, or pain for the former things have [forever] passed away" (Revelation 21:3-4).

JESUS: "You will weep and lament... but your grief will be turned into joy" (John 16:20-22).

The Gift of the Holy Spirit

PAUL: "Now it is God who establishes both us and you in Christ. He anointed us, 22 placed His seal on us, and put His Spirit in our hearts as a pledge of what is to come" (2Corinthians 1:21-22 NKJV).

PAUL: "And in Him, having heard and believed the word of truth —the gospel of your salvation— you were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is the pledge of our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession, to the praise of His glory" (Ephesians 1:13-14 ESV).

Living by Faith

PAUL: "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me" (Galatians 2:20 KJV).

PAUL: "We are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord" (2Corinthians 5:6-8 NKJV).

HABAKKUK: "Behold the proud, His soul is not upright in him; But the just shall live by his faith" (Habakkuk 2:4 KJV).
