There are certain doctrines about divine law that are misleading. This series of lessons examines how the law of Christ fits in with faith, grace, and other important matters discussed in the scriptures. Tap any title next to an arrow in the list below.

➤ You Shall Know the Truth (John 8:32) —Jesus said, "You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:32). Although some say we should not analyse the Bible minutely word by word, that's exactly what we'll do with this statement of Jesus.
➤ The Worst Accusation —When you tell the truth to people and show them what the scriptures say, there will be some who say you are unloving and legalistic. They don't realise, however, what a very serious accusation that is.
➤ Mistaken Identity —One Sabbath day, Jesus and his disciples went walking through the grain fields. His disciples felt hungry, and began to pluck the heads of grain. They rubbed off the husks, and ate the kernels. When the Pharisees observed this, they said, 'You are breaking the Sabbath!' (Luke 6:1-2)
➤ Don't Add or Take Away —There are clear and solemn warnings at the beginning, middle, and end of the Bible against adding to the word of God or taking away from it (Deuteronomy 4:2, Proverbs 30:6,4:2, Revelation 22:18-19).
➤ Don't Go Beyond God's Word — Jesus said, "If you abide in my teaching, then you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free" (John 8:31-32). We are urged in scripture not to go beyond (but to abide in) what is written. We do this so that our faith may be true.
